Product Review: Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation with Smart-Tone Technology

Hello everybody!

I'm a little bummed yet somehow thankful for my new class schedule. I've mentioned in one of my previous posts that I have a very free schedule this Academic Year so that means I can spend more time in blogging and filming videos! It just worries me a little because I only have three subjects this A.Y. so that means I need to push it harder in the coming semesters to graduate early!

Anyway, my schedule is still awesome because at least, I can start crossing off things from my backlogs. I can post more now, especially product reviews. And with that said, let me give you my review for the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation.

Now, the Match Perfection line of Rimmel have different variants based on what I've researched. This one that I have is Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation with Smart-Tone Technology. You may think why it's called "Match Perfection". Well, that is because of the "Smart-Tone Technology".

Product Name: Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation with Smart-Tone Technology
Shade: 340 Nude
Price: P450.00
Bought from: Chedelyn's Cosmetics

"Unique, innovative formula with Smart-Tone Technology to mimic skin's tone and texture for a match that blends and covers easily. Blue sapphire gives a truer, fresher color for a flawless, natural finish"

Now, this foundation is designed mainly to adapt to one's skin tone and texture. It contains blue sapphire which gives the foundation a flawless and natural finish. Interesting, isn't it?

The foundation is contained in a glass bottle with a plastic screw cap, like that of the Revlon ColorStay liquid foundations. I prefer though foundations with pumps or the ones that come in squeezable tubes. It actually annoys me because some of Rimmel's foundations from the Match Perfection line have pumps but this one does not. Oh well!

The shade that I got is nude which is a shade or two shades darker than my skin color. It was the only shade available the day that we bought this from Chedelyn's Cosmetics during the Celebrity Bazaar 2013. My sister really wanted to try this and she's kind of into foundations that'll make her look a little tan so she said it's okay if we buy this particular shade.

The texture of the foundation is thick but not too thick. In fact, it's a little runny. If you're going to compare it to the Revlon ColorStay liquid foundation, Revlon is thicker in consistency. And because of it's texture, at first I thought it wouldn't give a full coverage but it's actually buildable.

Looking at the bottle, I thought it wouldn't appear too dark on me but when I applied it, my face looked really tanned. It's okay though because I'd prefer shades that are a little darker than my skin color rather than shades that are lighter than me. And besides, I'm impressed with the finish of this foundation so the shade didn't really bothered me that much.

PICTURE NO. 1:

In picture no.1, the image on the left is my bare face and on the right image, the left side of my face was covered with Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation. You can see that it covered the redness of my skin and the little spots on my face. It also has a really flawless finish and it blends very well onto the skin.

PICTURE NO. 2:

In this photo, you can clearly see that my face looks a little dark but can you notice how the foundation made my skin look smoother and flawless? I'm in love with this foundation's coverage. Very impressive! Indeed, it will match perfectly on your skin and adapt to its tone and texture. However, it has a dewy finish so it's not really the perfect foundation for people with oily or oily-combination skin like me! :-(

PICTURE NO. 3:

On the left image, I applied the foundation all over my face and again, see how flawless my skin looks? On the right image, I've already set the foundation with powder and filled in my eyebrows. My face looked way flawless and smooth after I've set it powder.

Like what I've said, it has a dewy finish so of course, I road tested it to see how long it would last on my face. We were going to attend church the day that I took these photos and after only 2-3 hours, my t-zone area already got shiny and I can feel the dewiness on my cheeks already. It still looks great, though so it's okay.

Then after about 4 hours, the foundation started to fade out a little on my nose and a few of my blemishes started peeking through already. It still looks smooth, though. Here's a before-and-after photo. Left image was taken right after I did my makeup and the right image was taken after 4 hours or so.

Overall, I'd say this foundation is good. If only it has a matte or semi-matte finish, maybe it will be one of my HG foundations because of its very flawless and smooth finish and its amazing coverage but since it has a really dewy finish, I'd say it's just good. I highly recommend this to people with dry or normal skin. By the way, this is not a new product from Rimmel. It's just my first Rimmel foundation and after trying it out, I'm now more interested to try their other foundations.

If you want to purchase the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation, please visit Chedelyn's Cosmetics Collection on Facebook.

Stay awesome and accomplish your mission! :)

Product Review: Essence Get Big! Lashes Volume Curl Mascara

I've always envied people with really thick and long pair of lashes! I have very thin, sparse and short lashes so when it comes to mascaras, I always go for the ones that are not just lengthening but also volumizing and thickening. Lengthening mascaras are not enough because even though they give me long lashes, they still don't look full. I really envy those who have full-looking lashes! Garsh!

Anyway, a few of the best mascaras that I've tried are the Maybelline the Colossal, Maybelline the Magnum, Maybelline the Falsies and Tony Moly Maxi Volume Force Mascara. All of these give me full-looking lashes that's why I love them all! Just look at my natural lashes:

See how short and thin my lashes are? It's really frustrating at times especially for someone like me who's not really fond of wearing false eyelashes. That's why I'm thankful that I found a new mascara that saves my eyelashes all the time and completes my eye makeup looks without the help of false eyelashes! The best thing is that, it's not heavy on the pocket!

Product Name: Essence Get Big! Lashes Volume Curl Mascara
Price: P169.00
Bought from: SM Megamall

Other than the Essence Fix & Matte Translucent Powder, the first products that I wanted to try from the brand are their mascaras since I've read the posts of fellow beauty bloggers Ana Victorino and Martha of The Beauty Junkee about the Essence launch here in the Philippines. They both recommended their mascaras and translucent powder. So, when I visited Essence for the first time, the first things that I looked for were the translucent powder and their mascaras. Unfortunately, the translucent powder wasn't available that time so I just focused on their mascaras.

They have a bunch of variants of mascaras. Some are just volumizing, some are lengthening, while a few are both volumizing and lengthening. What really caught my attention is the Essence Get Big! Lashes Volume Curl mascara! I tried it on my sister-in-law and she have shorter and thinner lashes than mine so I was surprised that the mentioned mascara really curled, volumized and lengthened her eyelahes! I was absolutely impressed with its quality considering its very affordable price! I did not think twice, I immediately bought the product.

The mascara comes with a BIG wand! BAM! The brush is big which reminds me of old school mascaras. Nowadays, mascaras come in thin wands with tiny bristles. The wand is actually okay, makes application way faster but since it's big and wide, it is a little hard to reach the hard-to-reach part of the eyelashes, especially on the inner corners. But it's okay! I don't mind! Though I think some of you might not want that because there's a high chance of making boo-boos when you apply this mascara on your eyelashes so just be careful.

At first application, I fell in love right away! With just one layer, the Essence Get Big! Lashes Volume Curl mascara really volumized, lengthened and curled my lashes! I did not even curled my eyelashes that time with an eyelash curler. That's one of the good things about this mascara, you can skip the eyelash curler because this mascara alone can totally curl your eyelashes!

Take a look again at my photo above where you can see my natural eyelashes. Now take a look at this photo where in I coated my eyelashes with the Essence Get Big! Lashes Volume Curl mascara:

My lashes are now full-looking! You can see that the mascara really curled, thickened and lengthened my eyelashes! Awesome! It's definitely my current favorite mascara because of its good benefits. I guess the only problem that I have with this is that it's not waterproof. I have oily lids so I need waterproof mascaras and eyeliners all my life! Since this particular mascara is non-waterproof, by the end of the day or even by the middle of the day, depends on the humidity of the weather, it will already transfer on my lower lids. So if you're like me who have really oily lids, might I suggest that if you want to use the Essence Get Big! Lashes Volume Curl mascara, seal it with a waterproof mascara. My favorite mascara to pair it with is the Fashion 21 Double Up Mascara which is just a lengthening waterproof mascara. However, I think this is also available in waterproof formula. I think it's the one in the blue tube but I'm not 100% sure about that so just go check it out. If ever it's not available in waterproof formula, then just follow my tip. :)

This mascara is really one of my absolute favorites ever! It's affordable yet the quality is to die for. I hope I'm not overselling but it really just does wonders on my eyelashes. Hehe! I am definitely going to repurchase this and I highly recommend this to those who have thin lashes like me, to those frugal peeps like me and to all of you guys who hate removing stubborn waterproof mascaras! Haha! Check out the Essence Get Big! Lashes Volume Curl mascara and it might just be the solution to your lash problem! :)

Essence is also available in SM Makati, MOA, and SM Clark. Let me know where else we can find Essence. I love this brand!

Healthy Glowing Skin: On-the-go School Makeup!

It's been a week since classes for school year 2013-2014 had started and I thought I'd share you my quick on-the-go makeup look for school! This is my go-to makeup look whenever I know I need to enter the classroom through the back door because that means I'm already late! Hahaha! Just want to mention too that the face makeup and brow routine is my go-to school makeup look. The lip color depends on my mood. I might use soft pink color like the one wore in this tutorial or I might even go bolder when I'm feeling adventurous that day! :)

Lately, I'm into that healthy glowing skin look. I used to love looks with super matte finish but nowadays, I'm into radiant, glowing makeup looks because it makes me look more fresh, young, and more awake! How to achieve this look? Simple! Use a highlighter! My favorite is the Fashion 21 Roll N' Dazzle in Pink Diamond which is actually a glitter eyeshadow but I love using it as my highlighter. It just gives a beautiful glow on my skin and adds just a pop of color. Also, try to set your foundation or concealer with a light coverage of powder to keep it look more natural and radiant.

Product Review: Essence Eyebrow Stylist Set

Have you seen my video review about the Essence Eyebrow Stylist Set already? Well, if you haven't, click that thumbnail above!

Essence Eyebrow Stylist Set is my current go-to everyday eyebrow powder. It's perfect for you if your budget is kinda tight and if you're someone who's a newbie in doing or redefining eyebrows. The kit contains two shades of eyebrow powder and three eyebrow stencils in different shapes.

Product Name: Essence Eyebrow Stylist Set
Price: P189.00
Bought from: SM Megamall
*Available in one variant only*

The brow powder and the brow stencils are contained in a clear case which is very handy. It's interesting for me since it's the only brow kit I've seen with a packaging like that. However, it's a little inconvenient especially when you're in a hurry because it takes quite more time to open than those brow powders that come in small palettes which you can easily flip open.

The brow stencils are enclosed in this small card wherein you can find the product information.

These are all that you can find inside the clear case.

Like what I've mentioned in the video, I don't really use the brow stencils because I find it more difficult for me to do my brows when I use it and also, the shapes of the stencils are too narrow for my natural brows. Anyway, if you have the same situation as mine, you can just use the lower edge of the stencil to trace the lower edge of your natural brows. I hope you get what I'm saying! Hee! I promise I'll show you soon how to use the brow stencils but actually, it's a no-brainer!

Continuing on, the brow powders are just attached onto a plastic thingamajig which doesn't really bother me that much since what I really care for is the brow powder itself! When I first visited Essence, I wasn't really planning to buy this brow kit but when my sister swatched the brow powders, I was convinced because it has a very silky texture. The shades are taupe and dark brown  which I love because I think it's versatile. If you have light-colored hair, use the taupe one. If you have dark hair, then use the dark brown one. If you're somewhere in the middle, then you can mix the two together! If you've watched my video, what I did was fill in my brows with the taupe shade and then I defined the tails with the dark brown shade.

Left: with flash ; Right: without flash

What I love about this brow powder the most is that it has a very natural finish like it really sets onto your brows and the staying power is pretty impressive, too! At the end of the day, the tails might already fade but it's still there. I love it!

BEFORE

AFTER  5-6 HOURS

Overall, this product is great! I highly recommend this Essence Eyebrow Stylist Set to those who are economical, beginners, especially teenagers! It's very affordable plus it already comes with stencils so you have a guide when you do your brows. Awesome!

If you're interested with this product and want to try it out, you can find Essence at SM Megamall. I think it's also available in SM Makati and MOA. :)

Stay awesome and accomplish your mission! :)

How I Remove My Makeup? (Nightly Skin Care Routine)

Weeks ago, one of my subscribers in YouTube left a comment in one of my video, asking if I can show you guys how I remove my makeup. Now, I've finally filmed a video about it and of course, including my complete nightly skin care routine. You'll see everything in the video embedded above. :)

Here are the products featured in the video. These are all the products that I use nightly before going to bed.

1. Dona Elena Olive Oil Pomace (P258.25/1 liter)
     - I used to use makeup removers before from different cosmetic and skin care brands but after learning that we can use olive oil to remove makeup and after learning about its benefits for our skin, I decided to just stick with this and ditch the makeup remover that comes in small bottles which are actually a little pricey. This bottle from Dona Elena already contains 1000ml of olive oil and we all know that we only need a very small amount of this to remove makeup so this bottle will last you for a very long time. I suggest though that you choose an Extra Virgin olive oil. Like what I've said, I decided to stick with olive oil as a makeup remover after learning all its benefits. Yes! It's good for your skin! It serves as moisturizer, it's antioxidant, and can protect your skin from sun damage. Other than these things that I've listed, there are other amazing benefits that an olive oil can provide for all of us --- for hair, for cooking (of course), for our health and even for household matters. :)

2. SkinLite Makeup Cleansing Tissue (P89.00/Landmark, Trinoma)
     - My favorite makeup wipes so far!

3. Glory of New York Facial Cleansing (Please visit Queen B. on Facebook for more inquiries)
     - I've mentioned this before and I'll say it again, I'm in love with its divine scent! Of course, aside from its lingering smell, I love how it leaves my skin fresh, smooth and supple! :)

4. Moringa O2 Malunggay Herbal Facial Toner (roughly P90.00)
     - Still my most favorite toner so far! :)

5. Glory of New York Fairness and Glow Cream (Please visit Queen B. on Facebook for more inquiries)
     - It's not called Fairness and Glow Cream for no reason! This really helps me achieve a fairer complexion and it gives a healthy glow on my skin. My favorite nighttime moisturizer ever!

That's it! I hope you can share your favorite makeup removers, too as well as your nightly skin care routine.

Stay awesome and accomplish your mission! :)
